This church is the Iglesia de Nostra Signora del Rosario. The patron saint of the island of Fuerteventura is worshipped here and she has a special festival on the first Sunday of October. The church began as a small chapel in 1812 , but was enlarged to its present size in 1930. Close by is the Casa Museo Unamuno - a celebtrated author of Fuerteventura. The author stayed in this house for four months in 1924 and it has been preserved exactly as it was then.
The city seems to be centred around this area. The streets slope downto the sea and there is a large shopping centre near here. You can catch a ferry from Puerto del Rosario to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. NEXT ->
