Fuerteventura, Canary Islands : Puerto Rosario - Beach and Port
This shot is of one of the little beaches, close to the port. From here, you can catch a ferry to Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. It was a pleasant place, with a maritime walk way and information boards telling of the city's history. We discovered that Puerto del Rosario used to be called Puerto Cabras until 1956. Until the late 18th century it was simply a place where shepherds brought their goats to eat and drink. It grew into a little fishing harbour and then into a commercial port trading in cochineal.
