We took this shot at the beach end of the boardwalk at Morro Jable, just next to the lighthouse, Faro del Mattoral.
Morro Jable used to be just a pretty little fishing village, but boy... has it spread!
much of the development is to the north, where there is a vast expanse of sandy beach, Playa del Mattoral, reached by this board walk from the main road and shopping area. The board walk takes you over a protected area of salt marsh, which is of special ecological value.
The beach here is long, wide, flat, sandy and... windy. There are little kiosks on the sand, selling snacks and drinks. At the road end of the board walk is a long coast road, with shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and everything you could wish to pay money for - including escort services and car hire! NEXT ->
