Las Playitas is an interesting little spot. As you approach it on the road from Gran Tarajal, you first come to the development at this beach. This is a very upmarket resort, with a large, sophisticated hotel and fitness complex and some self catering accommodation. There is a jogging trail just behind the beach and some top of the range swimming and keep-fit facilities. The beach is wide, with the dark, volcanic sand of the region. All is clam and peaceful.
So why didn't I like it?
I suppose it's because it was all so perfectly purpose-built. Not a place bustling with atmosphere. Just brand, spanking new, very twinky. Soul-less.
My advice? Drive straight past and visit the old village of Las Playitas. Now that's a place with a bit of ambience... NEXT ->
