El Cotillo has a small and pretty harbour, with a pebbly beach (we learned to love pebbly beaches on this island - no sand to blow in your eyes). Cafes, bars and gift shops spill out onto the narrow streets and there is a shop selling trendy surfing clothes. Up on the cliff behind, are more restaurants.
The atmosphere is more laid back and peaceful than busy Corralejo, Caleta or Jandia. The shopping experiences are available but not in your face. It has the feel of a more traditional seaside town.
